OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Edu For Colleges

OpenAI launched ChatGPT Edu for college campuses. It is introduced to bring AI to campuses. It is said that it is affordable for institutes. It was announced by OpenAI on 30 May 2024. The OpenAI company said that they built ChatGPT Edu because they saw the success universities like the University of Oxford, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, University of Texas at Austin, Arizona State University, and Columbia University in the City of New York were having with ChatGPT enterprise.

The GPT-4o AI model was introduced by OpenAI recently. That model can interact with users in text, vision, and audio formats. The ChatGPT Edu is powered by the GPT-4o. This includes data analysis, document summarization, and web browsing tools. The response is in both text and vision formats. The main aim of this is to enhance educational activities on campuses. It supports 50+ languages.

At Columbia University, Professor Nabila El-Bassel is leading an initiative to integrate AI into community-based strategies to reduce overdose facilities. At Arizona State University, Christian Reves, an assistant professor is developing a custom Language Buddies GPT for students. It is said that the conversation and data in the GPT Edu will not be used to train the model. It comes with an improved quality and speed.
